They concentrate on the domestic Portuguese market which is not of much use to potential home buyers from other parts of Europe / the world. This is why we decided to market our own property ourselves (see: &lt;a href="http://www.minhovillas.com/"&gt;Minho Villas&lt;/a&gt;) rather than contract with any North Portugal Estate Agents. The below picture belies our house or rather villa / quinta; it is actually set over 3 floors with over 500 sqm of living space and located within 10,000 sqm of grounds (very private and on the River Minho - we have direct access). There is a road bridge just around the corner (out of view) which allows us to drive into Spain within 3 or 4 minutes. In fact our views across the River Minho are of Galicia (Spain). North Portugal riverfront properties are rare because the Portuguese never used to build away from the main road (because they like to see their neighbors pass and to trade) and then, when they learned the benefits of seclussion and superb views, it was too late; the Spanish and Portuguese came to an agreement prohibiting new building permits for properties within 100 meters of their rivers.
